Our Philosophy

Why we built Wellphases

Perimenopause and menopause affect half the world’s population. Yet for most women, this transition arrives with little preparation, limited support, and an overwhelming sense that the healthcare system has moved on.

Doctor appointments are short. Online information is often generic, contradictory, or anxiety-inducing. Friends and family may not understand what you’re going through. And the apps that do exist tend to treat menopause as a problem to be tracked, optimised, and managed — rather than a deeply human experience that deserves care.

We built Wellphases because we believe you deserve better than that.

What we believe

Menopause is a transition, not a disease

The language around menopause is often clinical and problem-focused. We take a different view: this is a natural life transition, and the body has a remarkable capacity to find its own balance when given the right conditions. Wellphases is built to support that process — not to pathologise it.

Every woman’s experience is unique

Hot flashes, sleep changes, mood shifts, joint pain — the symptoms of menopause vary enormously from person to person. What helps one woman may not help another. That’s why Wellphases focuses on helping you discover your patterns, rather than prescribing solutions that worked for someone else.

Awareness is more powerful than optimisation

Most health apps push you to track, measure, and improve. We believe a different approach is more valuable: developing a curious, non-judgmental awareness of how your body responds to food, movement, rest, and stress. That awareness, built over time through natural conversation, gives you something more useful than any metric.

Food and lifestyle come first

Rooted in Eastern wellness philosophy, we believe that food therapy and lifestyle adjustments are often the most powerful and sustainable tools available. Before reaching for supplements or medication, there is much that can be explored through diet, sleep, movement, and mindfulness. Wellphases reflects this priority — while always respecting that medical support has its place.

Your body, your authority

Wellphases will never tell you what to do. It offers observations, not instructions. Suggestions, not prescriptions. The goal is always to return power to you — to help you trust your own instincts and make decisions that feel right for your body and your life.

Privacy is not a feature, it’s a foundation

Health data is among the most personal information that exists. We store all your data locally on your device. We don’t sell it, share it, or profit from it. This isn’t a policy we adopted reluctantly — it’s a commitment we made before writing a single line of code.

How these values shape the app

Every design decision in Wellphases is checked against these principles. We ask: does this feel like a conversation or a form? Does it foster awareness or prescribe behaviour? Does it respect the user’s autonomy or create dependency?

When the answer pulls us in the wrong direction, we redesign.

This means Wellphases will never ask you to log food in grams, calculate your nutrients, or rate your symptoms on a scale of 1–10. It will never compare today’s choices to yesterday’s in a way that implies judgment. It will never make you feel like you’re failing.

What it will do is listen. Notice. Gently reflect. And ask the right question at the right time.

A note on what Wellphases is not

Wellphases is not a medical device. It does not diagnose conditions, recommend treatments, or replace the guidance of qualified healthcare professionals. If you have concerns about your health, please consult a doctor.

We are also not a substitute for human connection. We hope Wellphases supports you — but we also hope you have people in your life you can talk to. If you don’t, that matters too, and it’s worth seeking that support.
